AFSCME Local 749 is pleased to announce our 2024 college scholarship. This scholarship wil be awarded to help the dependent of a Local 749 union member attend a college or university We encourage members in good standing to apply. The deadline for application is March 31, 2024.

For Local 749 member dependents: Must be a dependent of a current local 749 AFSCME dues paying member in good standing. Dependent must have or is on track to graduate for the upcoming award period. Accepted or enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
Scholarship Eligibility: Current High school graduate or on track to graduate. Eligible dependents of local 749 AFSCME, Dependents can Qualify for one-time award. Must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. Only one scholarship award per Family. Executive board, delegates and trustees dependents are eligible.
Applications will be accepted from January 1- March 31 annually. Applications may be downloaded from: LOCAL749.org or by requesting an application from local 749 via mail at 290 Pratt st. Meriden CT. 06450. Notification of awards will be given in May.
*SCHOLARSHIP can be used for tuition, housing, books or college related expenses. Amounts of scholarship are distributed annually and amounts may vary based on applications and scholarship funds. Verification of funds being used for college related expenses may be requested by our union Executive Board.
