Judicial Branch

Judicial Branch employees comprise 90% of Local 749. At its inception, the Connecticut Judicial Employees Union (AFSCME Local 749) represented all "non-professional" employees of the Judicial Branch, until the Division of Criminal Justice became part of the Executive Branch in 1985.

Today, Local 749 represents close to 1300 Judicial Branch Employees in the Administrative Services, Court Support Services, External Affairs, Information Technology, and Superior Court Operations Divisions. Recently, Local 749 organized addition members such as Court Planners and Probate Court Staff.
